"MISS" JENNIFER
COLBY
Owner and artistic
director, she is well-known across the United States (and Canada)
as one of the best young teachers, choreographers, and costume designers
for young dancers. She has been a member of the
nation’s two leading organizations of dance teachers, Dance Masters
of America and Dance Educators of America for fourteen years. Members
of her studio’s performing group, the Jennifer Colby Dancers, have
a record of winning that is unsurpassed for a studio's first twelve
years of existence. Jennifer herself has been recognized with hundreds of
choreography and costuming awards, served as a competition judge
for American Dance Awards, Dance Xplosion, Star Systems, CanDance, Terpsichore and for
Dance Masters of America National Title and Performing Arts competitions
across the United States and Canada. Additionally, she has choreographed for other
dance studios across the Nation and done choreography and costume design for many professional productions. She was Performing
Arts Competition Director for five years for Dance Masters of America
Florida Chapter 2, directing competitions with hundreds of entries
each March and November. In addition to her dance-related experience, she also enjoys creating a state-of-the-art experience for her dancers with on-site digital sound editing capability, video capture & editing, and the use of the latest equipment around to enhance their learning experience. MR.
SANCHEZ
Our Ballet Master teaching
classes for our most advanced dancers. Mr. Sanchez is truly one of America's
most sought after ballet teachers, travelling across the nation
almost every weekend to teach for such prestigious organizations
as Dance Educators of America, Headliners, and Dance Olympus. His
own education included most of the great names in American Ballet,
including being protégé to Robert Christopher. He has performed
with leading companies such as Joffrey, Alvin Ailey, Connecticut
Ballet, and Eglevsky Ballet. His brilliant, exciting, elegant style and his life-long love of ballet has led him to reevaluate his approach of classical ballet training making it easier to learn while building the foundation for a performing career for future generations. |

"MISS" WANDA
Wanda has over 15 years of training in all forms of dance. She is a former Disney
dancer at the Magic Kingdom performing in parades and numerous special
events! She received her early training at the Blanco Ballet School,
Bailos-Dance Company, and Ballet Municipal, all in San Juan, Puerto
Rico. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and
is now in her tenth year at the Colby Center as one of our most
popular teachers.

"MISS" LEILA
Miss Leila is in her fourth year teaching with the Colby Center. She has an extensive background in all forms of dance and acrobatics. She is well-known for her fantastic explanations of acrobatic skills, bringing lots of success to our dancers by encouraging the quality of the skills, and encouraging a positive attitude in all of her classes! She is currently in training at the Paul Mitchell School.

"MISS" ASHLEY A
Miss Ashley is joining the Colby Center Staff for the third year. She was a member of the studio's award-winning Jennifer Colby Dancers Team from our innaugural season until she graduated high school. During that time, she became a dancer well-known for extreme technique and artistry, and is one of the most decorated competitive dancers anywhere - with dozens of titles, high score awards, and scholarships to her name, most notably Miss Dance of Florida. After graduating from the JCDs and the Colby Center, she went on to perform with Royal Carribbean Cruise Lines and in shows all over the world. We are so proud to have her back, sharing her knowledge & growth from her professional endeavors with our students, but also bringing back the foundation our school was built on to help us develop the talents of the future. |

"MISS" ASHLEY H
"Miss" Ashley H is in her third year of teaching with us. Before becoming a Colby Center teacher, she trained in our program for 12 years! In her time with us she has become well-known across the Nation for her versatility & ability to literally take over any style of choreography almost instantly. She has travelled across the Nation & Canada to further her studies, and has competed with the JCD Team for 11 years, helping bring in numerous group awards, and individual scholarships, titles and high score awards too numerous to mention - notably DMA's Junior Miss Dance of Florida. At her young age, she has become one of the most popular teachers at the studio as our primary Hip-Hop instructor, pulling confidence and style from every student, beginner-advanced. She is also trained in our syllabus to teach ballet, tap, jazz, and acrobatics! Ashley has also done original choreography for our CDS performance & JCD competition teams, and loves the rewarding experience of watching her students growing and learning to grasp her unusual style! |

"MR" JAY
Jay Gamlin, has been working as a professional dancer, master teacher and choreographer, in several forms of dance including contemporary, jazz, musical theater and acrobatics, for the past 10 years. As a performer he has traveled the world working and training with some of the greatest dancers and choreographers in the industry including Wade Robson, Mia Michaels, Brian Freedman, Wayne Cilento, Jerry Mitchell, Columbus, AC Ciulla, and Patti Columbo. He has appeared in numerous television commercials, motion pictures, and music videos for such artists as Madonna, Britney Spears, The Fab Five, and WildLife. He has also appeared on Broadway and in first rate touring companies such as "Wicked", "Fame", "Cats", and many others. As a master teacher and choreographer, Jay's work has been recognized both on a national and international level. His passion for being a dance teacher and judge comes thru in his enthusiasm and positive attitude. Jay's unique style of combining technical elements, contemporary movement, and athleticism has made him one of the most promising up and coming competitive choreographers. Over the past 8 years, he has travelled to us to create dozens of award-winning pieces for the Jennifer Colby Dancers Competition Team! We are excited that Jay will now be with us on a regular basis!His class is called "Tuesday Night Surprise," because every new Tuesday is sure to be a surprise with Colby Center favorite "Mr Jay!" :) |
